Tattoo & Piercing Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to all tattoo and piercing services provided by Haywood Innovations (Pty) Ltd, trading as Haywood Tattoos & Piercings. By booking an appointment, paying a deposit, or receiving a service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms.
1. Age Requirement
- Clients must be 18 years or older to receive a tattoo or piercing without parental or legal guardian consent.
- Valid government-issued identification may be requested before any procedure.
- Haywood Tattoos & Piercings reserves the right to refuse service if satisfactory proof of age cannot be provided.
2. Health Declaration
By proceeding with your appointment, you confirm that you have disclosed any relevant medical conditions, including but not limited to:
- Diabetes
- Epilepsy
- Blood clotting disorders
- Heart conditions
- Allergies
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Skin conditions
- Autoimmune disorders
- Infectious diseases
- Use of blood-thinning medication
- Any condition that may affect healing
Failure to disclose relevant medical information releases Haywood Tattoos & Piercings from liability arising from undisclosed conditions.
3. Client Responsibility
The client confirms that:
- They are not under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs.
- They are mentally and physically capable of consenting to the procedure.
- They understand that tattoos and body piercings involve permanent or semi-permanent body modification.
- They have had the opportunity to ask questions before the procedure begins.
4. Deposits
- All bookings require a non-refundable deposit.
- Deposits secure appointment time and cover consultation, preparation, artwork, and scheduling.
- Deposits are deducted from the final price of the service.
- Deposits are not transferable to another person.
5. Rescheduling
Appointments may be rescheduled provided at least 48 hours’ notice is given.
Failure to provide sufficient notice may result in forfeiture of the deposit.
6. Late Arrival
Clients arriving more than 15 minutes late may have their appointment cancelled or shortened depending on availability.
A new deposit may be required to rebook.
7. No-Shows
Failure to attend an appointment without prior notice will result in:
- Loss of deposit.
- A new deposit being required before another appointment can be made.
8. Right to Refuse Service
Haywood Tattoos & Piercings reserves the right to refuse service if:
- The client appears intoxicated.
- The client behaves abusively or aggressively.
- The requested design promotes hate, discrimination, or illegal activity.
- The requested placement is considered unsafe.
- The client’s health presents an unacceptable risk.
- The artist believes the tattoo or piercing cannot be completed safely or to the required professional standard.
9. Design Approval
Before tattooing begins:
- Clients are responsible for carefully checking spelling, dates, placement, sizing, and design.
- Once the tattoo has started, no refunds or free corrections will be provided for approved artwork, spelling, or placement errors.
10. Colour & Healing
The client understands that:
- Tattoos and piercings heal differently from person to person.
- Ink colours may fade over time.
- Healing results cannot be guaranteed.
- Touch-ups may be recommended after healing.
11. Aftercare
Clients agree to follow all aftercare instructions provided.
Failure to follow aftercare instructions may lead to:
- Infection
- Poor healing
- Colour loss
- Scarring
- Jewellery complications
Haywood Tattoos & Piercings cannot be held responsible for complications resulting from improper aftercare.
12. Piercing Jewellery
Only professional-grade jewellery supplied or approved by Haywood Tattoos & Piercings should be worn during healing.
Changing jewellery too early or using unsuitable jewellery may interfere with healing.
13. Infection & Allergic Reactions
Although strict hygiene and sterilisation procedures are followed, all tattoos and piercings carry inherent risks including:
- Infection
- Swelling
- Bruising
- Allergic reactions
- Bleeding
- Scarring
- Rejection or migration of jewellery
The client accepts these risks before proceeding.
14. Photography
Haywood Tattoos & Piercings may photograph completed work for portfolio, educational, or marketing purposes.
Clients who do not wish to be photographed must notify staff before the procedure begins.
15. Refund Policy
Due to the permanent nature of tattoos, piercings, artwork preparation, and hygiene regulations:
- Deposits are non-refundable.
- Completed services are non-refundable.
- Dissatisfaction based solely on personal preference after approval does not qualify for a refund.
Where appropriate, management may offer a touch-up or other reasonable solution at its discretion.
16. Mobile Appointments
For mobile appointments:
- A clean, well-lit, safe working area must be provided.
- Pets and unnecessary visitors should be kept away during the procedure.
- The artist may cancel the appointment if the environment does not meet hygiene or safety standards.
17. Limitation of Liability
Haywood Tattoos & Piercings, its artists, employees, and representatives shall not be liable for complications arising from:
- Failure to follow aftercare instructions.
- Undisclosed medical conditions.
- Allergic reactions.
- Normal healing variations.
- Improper care after leaving the appointment.
Liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by South African law.
18. Consent
By booking or receiving a tattoo or piercing, the client confirms that they:
- Have read and understood these Terms & Conditions.
- Have had the opportunity to ask questions.
- Consent voluntarily to the procedure.
- Accept the associated risks.
- Agree to comply with all policies outlined above.
